Tools And Weapons
The ancient Egyptians changed from copper tools to bronze tools because bronze were better to work with. They figured out that if you smelt copper with tin, you get bronze.Eventually, quite a while later they changed from bronze tools to iron tools. They created pick axes and found iron ore and smelted it. Iron tools where really strong, and difficult to break. These tools helped the Egyptians build great structures, that we still look at today. Sure we build more modern buildings, but theirs are still here.
1. The Khoposh.
The typical Khoposh is 50-60cm long. It was used for hooking an opponents shield or disarming them. Also used as a sword. The blade is curved at the top for disarming, and only the curved part gets sharpened. Watch out for the Khoposh!
2. Tools used for the Pyramids.
The first pyramids built, they used copper chisels to shape the stone, it quickly turned into bronze chisels, and eventually iron chisels. Anyway, the built wooden ramps and wooden carts and pushed and pulled the big stone up to where it should be. You better be glad you don't live in ancient Egypt!
3. Sundial
A sundial is a clock that works with the sun to tell time. If the sun rise is to your left, if it's shadow is on the right it is morning. If the shadow is below it, it's noon. If it is on the left, it's almost dawn. I wonder what the used when it wasn't sunny?
4. Horn Bows
It was made from two hunched animal horns. Usually antelope horns. The bow string was made from sinew. Duck!
5. The Crook and Flail
The most powerful symbols of the pharaoh. The flail represents the Pharaoh's duty to the people. The crook represents leadership. Don't see much of those anymore.
Sinew-Another word for tendon. Tendon is what joins muscles to bones. It is really strong which makes it good horn bows.
Although Egypt is in turmoil at this present time, we are under better circumstances than back then. Ancient Egypt was pretty amazing though, and there was more secrets about it that was lost when their buildings crumbled.
